Our youth playing kit, along with sticks and other hockey accessories, is available online from our kit partner Hawkinsport. All kit can be viewed and purchased online, and on 1st September Hawkinsport will be at the club with their pop-up shop. More information can be found on the Club Shop section of this website and at Hawkinsport: Reading HC kit at Hawkinsport
Equipment
Please see Members Guidance on use of kit and follow Government advice on Hygiene
Hockey sticks
One of the biggest problems we have is young players with a stick which is too big for them. It is one of those things that you just can’t buy a size too big and wait to grow into. Please buy your stick at a reputable sports shop which will make sure you have the right size. Don’t let mum and dad buy one without taking you to be measured up. We can advise you how to measure up.
Shin pads
These are essential. You will not be allowed to train or play without them.
Mouthguard
A properly fitted mouthguard (gum shield) is highly recommended. Please ask your child's coach or Age Group Administrator for more information on where they can get gum shields fitted. Mouthguards are available to purchase at the Hungry Hut which is our take-away drinks and food outlet open every Sunday.
Young Leaders
RHC boasts a strong Young Leaders team that helps every week in the u8 to u14 age groups with coaching, umpiring and coordination of the monthly Thames Valley Mini tournaments. The YLs are the Next Generation of club leaders and the leadership skills they learn and practice provide great confidence not just in hockey but to take forward as they progress in their lives. 16 new YL completed the YL course this past Summer and join the YL team assisting with Mini's coaching.
